Is Roulette In Casinos Rigged

My most reliable online roulette wheel.

I play a lot of online roulette. Now, I don't believe any of the roulette wheels on this site are 'unfair', but I do have a personal favourite, and that's the one at the Cloudbet Casino.

Roulette games are easier to rig offline than online, but when they exist online it is most often that the entire casino system is rigged, rather than the roulette game specifically.

  1. How to Avoid Rigged Casinos. If you don't want to find yourself playing at an internet gambling site that has been rigged, then follow these tips. Make sure that you visit gambling websites that are well-known and well-established. You should play casino games that are developed by well-known software developers.
  2. For most casinos, the extra gains in odds are not enough to justify if they get caught doing it. The Bottom Line. Saying that a rigged roulette table doesn't exist is rather a false statement as cheaters will always exist. However, you can take comfort from the fact that rigged roulette tables are extremely rare.
  3. In the casino online world, the people who claim the industry is rigged will point to instances where a set of results looked odd. For example, if a player is taking a shot at roulette and they see the number 8 roll in six times in a row, they will identify this as a pattern that proves the casino has rigged the game.
  4. Are online casinos rigged? While you might be in it with the aim of winning some money, online casinos' main goal is to make a neat profit from customers who love to gamble online. Laws and regulations are in place with the aim of making sure that online casinos operate in a fair and legal manner.

I've seen thousands of spins of online roulette wheels, and there have often been times where the results made me think 'hmmm'. I know you've felt the same way too. AtCloudBet however, I feel 100% positive that everything is in order, and I feel comfortable knowing that I have the best chance of winning possible.

Is Roulette In Casinos Rigged

If you're happy with the roulette wheel at the casino you're playing at right now, then cool, there's no need to change. If you've ever had the slightest doubt however, check out CloudBet.

You'll understand what I mean after your first few real money spins.

So are the wheels actually fixed?

In a one sense yes, and in another sense no.

However, one thing that's for sure is that if you play at the reputable online roulette casinos like the ones listed on this site, none of the roulette wheels are going to be rigged against the player to help win more money for themselves.

How online roulette works.

When I say that the roulette wheel is fixed, I do not mean this in a way that will have an effect on your odds at the table. After you press the 'spin' button, the casino software uses a Random Number Generator (RNG) to choose which number the ball is going to land on. So whilst it may appear as though the ball in spinning around and could land anywhere, the result of the spin has already been determined since pressing the 'spin' button.

In spite of this, although the ball already has a set position for it to land in, the result is never determined based on where you have bet your chips. For example, just because you have bet on red, the software will never take this into consideration and think 'I'm going to land on black and take their money'.

The final result of the spin is always completely random, and is just as random as any land casino. The only difference is that the ball knows exactly where it is going to land after you press spin, and there is no physics involved like there is on a real table. The whole animation of the roulette wheel is for entertainment purposes only.

Some people will always complain that something is rigged if the results do not go in their favour, so always take what sceptics have to say with a pinch of salt. It's always going to be much easier to claim an online casino is rigged purely because of the fact that electronics and RNGs are involved, rather than the raw physics of a real table.

The house will always have the edge.

At the end of the day, the house will always have the edge over the player, and there is no need for them to extend this edge by rigging the results against players.

Whether a player decides to play Online Craps, Roulette, Blackjack or any casino game, the house knows that they will be winning more money over the long run.

You never know how shady casinos are going to act though, which is why you should stick with the reputable ones in the first place.

Assuming of course you are playing at a respected casino to make sure everything runs well, you should have no fear about whether or not the roulette wheels are honest. I am confident that each of the casinos on this site are very well run, as I have deposited and played at all of them for myself. If I ever have anything to report, I will let you know!

Magnetic Rigging

When it comes to using magnetics, one of the schemesincludes the replacement of some of the brass (non-magnetic) pocket separators with separators made of steel (a magnetic material). Best at home slot machines.

The steel separators are manufactured with precision so that they appear identical to the ones made of brass. When a casino uses a roulette ball with a magnetic center, logically, it is drawn to the steel separators and gives preference to those ball pockets. Because the separators are permanently attached to the wheel, the preferred ball pockets need to be determined aforetime. In many cases casinos choose the single zero and the double zero as favored numbers.

Once the steel separators have been installed, the dealer is now able to decide whether to favor the above-mentioned pockets by putting the magnetic ball into or out of the play session.

During the 1940s and 1950s, the casino industry in Cuba developed by astute gamblers was aware that all the roulette wheels in the capital city of Havana were rigged. Many of these gamblers decided to go against casual players, as the ball usually settled into sections of the wheel where betting activity was low.

Back then a common way to gaff a Cuban wheel was by using electromagnets behind the ball track. One simple scheme employed four electromagnets, which were placed at an equal space inside the woodwork around the back side of the ball track. As the roulette balls had a core of steel, logically they reacted to the magnetic field. With a simple press of a button, a dealer was able to activate those electromagnets and force the ball off the track towards any of the four sections. Dealers had four sectors on the wheel to select from, thus, directing the ball to the desired area was not much of an effort, especially for a skilled dealer.

Other efforts for magnetic gaffing have been tested as well, but they proved to be not that successful.

There has been another scheme, which involved the placement of electromagnets in the wheelhead under pre-determined ball pockets, but it was quite difficult to maintain.

The major issue featured the electric current transfer to the spinning wheelhead. Several slip-ring contacts (one for every electromagnet) and a common return line were put to use. However, it was not a reliable method, because the frequent maintenance would eventually reveal to more people than what casino management could accept, that the wheel is rigged.

The Contemporary Way

As technology developed, the methods of rigging a roulette wheel became more complex.

The majority of older methods had the following relevant issue, the wires or levers needed to be run to and from the wheel, which tied the latter to the roulette table and made the rigging more exposed to players. Contemporary methods do not use buttons, levers or external wires, but instead all the mechanisms and wires are hidden entirely within the wheel.

One of the modern methods, used by some casinos, features electrically-operated blocking pins at every ball pocket. A minuscule electrical solenoid is placed behind each of the pins inside the spinning wheelhead. Every solenoid will push the respective pin out whenever an electric current is applied. All 38 solenoids are connected to an electronic circuit board, which includes a radio receiver and digital control circuits. The board and the solenoids receive power from alkaline dry cells.

The specific moment is that the batteries, the wires and the circuit board are positioned under the cone of the wheelhead and rotate along with it. With the help of a remote control, similar to a TV set remote, a digitally-coded radio signal is sent to the circuit board. This signal ensures that one or more of the solenoid connections are selected and the electrical current necessary is applied.

The remote control is usually operated not by the dealer, but by an associate of his/hers. It can be set ahead of time, before the ball falls onto the wheelhead, to block the numbered pockets where the betting activity is high. When the ball falls off the track, the dealer's associate will simply press the activating button and the blocking pins will be pushed out for as long as a few seconds, not allowing the ball to settle into the designated pockets.

This is a system, which requires no maintenance and is completely out of the players' sight. As it is inside the wheelhead of the wheel, the latter can be rotated, leveled, and moved around, as if it is not rigged.

As casinos and other establishments have been using rigged roulette wheels and other casino devices of fraud for a while, the time has come for resourceful roulette players to respond. Therefore, they have invented a number of smart ways to overcome the odds.
